Helen Burgess started as the Judging Assistant in 2006. 2008 saw her take on the role of Judging chairperson for the first time for the WA Web Awards and has stepped up the role for the inaugral Australian Web Awards in 2009. Helen has many years experience within the IT sector in various roles from network administration through to web site development. Currently, a lecturer in IT specializing in Website Design and Development at Central TAFE in Perth, WA. Helen is a dedicated proponent of all things web and teaches her Certificate IV and Diploma Web Students to Industry Standards especially Coding, Usability and Accessibility.
Helen is a member of AWIA, and on the committee as the Education Sector Liaison, where her position is used for the Industry to influence training within the Vocational Education and Training sector and providing feedback on the National Training Package for the Web Industry Qualifications. Helen is currently writing new resources that will be available to Australian TAFE Lecturers for the Web Qualifications in the ICA05 Training Package using the feedback gained the Web industry.
