Matt is a freelance website developer and university student based in
Perth, Western Australia. Ruby is Matt’s language of choice but he’s
also spent 2 years of his life in PHP and dabbled with Python and Java
(under duress). His work of late has involved an MP3 hosting site for
independent artists and a site for the publication and sharing of
events occurring in and around Perth which receives approximately
30,000 unique visitors a month. Mapping and photography are two other
areas of interest to him.
An advocate of web standards and semantic data, Matt has published two
“State of the Western Australian web” reports detailing government
adoption and adherence to standards. Matt is an organiser of the Perth
Ruby on Rails meetup, been involved in the organisation of the 2005
and 2006 WA Web Awards along with BarCamp Perth 3.0.
