World Health Organization & UNICEF - WASH in HCF
The World Health Organization’s primary role is to direct international health and to lead partners in global health responses.
UNICEF is the United Nations Children’s Fund, working in 190 countries for the survival, protection and development of every child, with a focus on the lives of children who are the most disadvantaged and excluded.
The World Health Organization and UNICEF came to us wanting to update an existing website that had dated over time. The old website was not intuitive or visually engaging, and hard to use. The new website needed to meet AA accessibility standards and be the “go to” place for resources on the WASH in Healthcare Facilities topic.
Our solution was a custom built, easy to use website that utilised powerful imagery, whitespace and a combination of bold and soft blues to engage the user. The website makes use of alt tags, typographical hierarchy and tested fonts to ensure AA accessibility. The site features a library of resources and stories that can be filtered by different categories, tags and countries.
Working with the fabulous team of WHO and UNICEF members that were located in Geneva and the UK, the Blick team worked to the tight deadlines, with late international hours to ensure the project was completed on time.
Behind a simple to use website lies complex functionality (for filtering and uploading) that was executed brilliantly by our development team. To add to this, the deadline was set tight and the Blick team needed to work efficiently and intelligently to complete the design and development in time for the launch.
The website was launched on Wednesday 3rd April 2019 gaining a large volume of publicity. The website is a crucial resource which will help solve a massive global health issue affecting Healthcare Facilities worldwide.
Creating this website, which included the branding and logo, was really rewarding for Blick. Important work like WASH in Healthcare Facilities is what motivates Blick and we are really proud of the outcome.
